Did you know: The Scientific Name of the Domestic Ferret

Did you know the scientific name of the domestic ferret is Mustela putorius furo, which translates into “stinky weasel thief"?

Mustela comes from the Latin word for mouse (mus). Weasels and other “mouse catchers” are included in the genus Mustela.  Putorius comes from the Latin word putor, which means a smelly, musky odor. Furo comes from the Latin furonem meaning “thief”. 

All together this translates into, " Stinky Weasel Thief"!!
