There has been an outbreak of Campylobacter that has been sourced to a pet store chain. This is a good reminder to always be diligent about hand-washing and cleaning the hospital.
No matter where pets come from, they can potentially carry a disease that can be passed on to humans or to other pets.
At our practice, we see pets from everywhere, including multiple shelters, pet stores, strays, private breeders, and even CraigsList. The point is that animals come from a mulitude of places and our job in the hospital is to prevent spread of disease.
Don't be complacent!
