Do You Know The 7 Common Commands? Here are some training tips from "Lucky Dog" trainer, Brandon McMillan.
quotesVTP-SuccessfulBlue.jpg“I’ve eliminated commands over the years that weren’t used often enough till I found the most common ones you say to your dog on a daily basis. Instead of your dog being ok at 20 commands you rarely say, now they’re perfect at the seven you say consistently.”- Brandon McMillan

Dr. Hehn's Take

As a general rule, I try not to watch a lot of veterinary TV shows. I already live the veterinary life on a daily basis. However, I do have one Saturday morning ritual at 7 a.m. when I don't have to work. I am obsessed with the show Lucky Dog with dog trainer Brandon McMillan.
Let's face it, in vet school or in vet tech school we don't get much behavior or training information. In practice, we get SO MANY dog training and behavior modification questions.

Not only is Lucky Dog a heart warming show, but I actually learn many valuable tips from Brandon that I can sometimes pass on as suggestions to clients. The premise of the show is that  he goes to the shelter and finds a dog that he takes home and trains (usually a dog that needs a little extra help) and finds it the perfect forever home. A happy ending and a second chance for these "Lucky Dogs!"
