If you missed the Twitter Chat with Mele on Running Smooth Anesthesia for Your Patients, here is your chance to join us for another chat...this time on Pain Managment/Analgesia. 

Melanie Tong (Mele), BA, CVT, VTS (anesthesia/analgesia) is the Anesthesia Department Supervisor at NorthStar VETS in Robbinsville, NJ. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Archaeology from Boston University, she started working in the anesthesia department at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.

  • She trained under four board-certified anesthesiologists for twelve years. Melanie attained her Certified Veterinary Technician licensure in 2005 and passed specialty boards to become a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2009.
  • She has anesthetized thousands of patients from dogs and cats to horses, camelids, sea lions, tigers, lions and gorillas.

How:  Log in to Twitter directly and go to @TheSavvyVetTech page at the designated time. Chime in and ask questions or discuss the topic, and ALWAYS use #vettechchat at the end of every tweet so we can see your responses. Mele has vast experience in pain management. Her experience includes post-operative pain management, epidural placement, nerve blocks, soaker catheters, and more. 

VTPpiggie.jpgShe has anesthetized thousands of patients from dogs and cats to horses, camelids, sea lions, tigers, lions and gorillas.She has provided countless anesthesia and analgesia procedures for patients undergoing thoracotomies, exploratory laparotomies, orthopedic procedures, cardiac patch grafts, balloon valvuloplasties, PDA (patent ductus arteriosus) occlusions, and portosystemic shunt ligation (intra- and extra-hepatic).

I am excited to learn about Mele's experience and her pearls of wisdom in this field. It is very easy to join in a Twitter Chat.
